Keyhole
oil pastel
It began as a simple sketch with crayons on the back of a restaurant placemat—the kind meant to distract children. Fitting, since I’ve always felt like a big kid, trying to navigate a world that often doesn’t make sense. But as the colors grew bolder, the lines sharper, a deeper truth emerged: something is locked inside my mind. A thought, a memory, a truth I can’t quite reach. The question lingers—who holds the key?
This portrait is both playful and unsettling, a kaleidoscope of colors that masks the shadows within. Behind the vivid tones hides a mystery: a locked door, a silent witness, an unanswered question.
